Principal’s message
Since the beginning of 2018, Bundoora Secondary College has been on a journey of developing student-centered learning through authentic student empowerment and personalised learning pathways.
Our core purpose is to deliver a broad yet challenging education that empowers students to take ownership of their learning. We believe students learn best—and are better prepared for life challenges—when they make informed choices and take responsibility for their learning journey.
Together, we are active partners in education, empowering students to find and use their voice, discover or enhance their passions, while working to achieve self-defined success.
At BSC, students are not limited to traditional year-level classes. Our innovative vertical curriculum is structured into three stages—Entry, PACE21, and Graduates—giving students the freedom to choose subjects that match their interests and challenge their abilities. This flexible approach ensures that every learner is engaged at their point of interest and supported at their point of need.
Every student at BSC belongs to a supportive family unit called PAL (Pathways and Learning). Their assigned PAL mentor acts as a trusted guide throughout their entire learning journey, working in partnership with families to nurture each student’s growth and development. PAL mentors monitor learning progress, engagement, school connections, and friendships, while providing expert advice on subject selection through co-developed learning plans. These plans empower students to set goals, pursue their passions, and tailor their learning to meet individual needs and interests—ensuring successful outcomes for every student.
RIGOUR is a necessary ingredient of our TAKE CONTROL model and while we recognize that learning can be challenging, and students will encounter setbacks, we nurture growth mindsets that instills a belief in our students that even thought they might not be able to do it yet, they have the ability to learn, improve, and succeed with persistence and support.
Bundoora Secondary College is proud to be a diverse and inclusive community built on five core values: RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, RESILIENCE, RELATIONSHIPS, and RIGOUR. We empower student voice through opportunities such as the Student Leadership Council, student-led tours, hosting assemblies, and representation on School Council. At BSC, students play an active role in everyday decision-making, shaping the culture of our school.
We invite families to partner with us in their child’s education, creating a strong and connected learning community. We believe the best schools understand the aspirations of their students and support them to leave a lasting mark on the world.
Our goal is to foster a love of learning, so that every student may become a life-long learner.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
