UNIVERSITY STEP UP

Bundoora Secondary College students have the opportunity to undertake first year university studies.

Since our adoption of the 'Take Control Model' in 2017 Bundoora Secondary College is writing exciting new chapters of student-centered learning, with a focus on authentic and individualised pathways. These approaches has removed many of the traditional restrictions placed on student learning, and instead encourages them to ‘take the steering wheel’, owning what is learnt and where they are heading to.

Prepare for La Trobe

Bundoora Secondary College, in partnership with Latrobe University, provides an opportunity for students at Bundoora Secondary College to gain entry into University.  From their website..

Get a head start at uni.

Your ATAR is just one way to get into university. At La Trobe, our research has shown that there are other ways to predict your success.

That’s why we’ve created Prepare for La Trobe: a pathway to La Trobe where you study micro-subjects that set you up for success in future study, alongside your regular senior school program. It’s 100% free and online.

  • get a La Trobe Entrance Score based on your Prepare for La Trobe subject grades, which you can use instead of, or as well as, an ATAR when applying for eligible La Trobe degrees. We’ll use whichever score is higher

  • gain the skills you’ll need to succeed at uni, studying at your own pace

  • get an early conditional offer for your La Trobe course. That means we’ll hold your spot – it’s guaranteed as long as you meet the entry requirements and successfully complete your VCE (including unscored), HSC, IB or VCAL

  • relieve stress about exams and school performance by knowing we’ve got your back with our La Trobe Entrance Score

The new Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) is a new centre of excellence for high-achieving and high-ability senior secondary students. Students will be able to study an accelerated subject at CHES, which can contribute to their ATAR and earn them university credits, while completing their VCE studies at your school. This government-funded programs is exclusive for students in Victorian government schools for additional extension, challenge and support.

From Term 1 2023, CHES will commence a range of Higher Education Studies (first-year undergraduate subjects) in partnership with universities and two specialist VCE studies (Extended Investigation and Algorithmics). Students will typically take just one subject with us as part of their overall VCE program. They will be able to study online or at the state-of the-art CHES facility or a flexible mix of on-site and online learning. In addition, students enrolled in a subject at CHES will have access to the CHES Student Enrichment Series which includes masterclasses and mentoring with a range of university partners.

Applications to study a VCE subject at CHES in 2023 are now open via the CHES website.
