The wellbeing of our school community is of utmost importance to us at Bundoora Secondary College. We have a dedicated and professional wellbeing team to help our students with anything they're going through - big or small.
On top of this, we have a great connection with Banyule Youth Services, who provide free youth support, activities, and advice for high school students and their families. See below what's happening in the world of wellbeing below!
JETS Crew & BYS-FREE Online Activites in Term 4
Jets online Term 4 starts 12th October kicking off with lots of free opportunities for young people, weekly groups, industry standard training, events and more!

IncArt - Mondays 4pm-7pm
This is an inclusive space for young people (aged 12-25) to get their art on! This term they are investigating watercolours.

Starting on the 6th of September, these monthly DnD sessions are open to all young people and will explore other role-playing games as well!

Oxygen - Online Youth Mental Health Services
Does lockdown have you feeling down?
In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Victorian Government has provided significant financial support towards youth mental health, and in particular its online program MOST.
MOST exists to provide continuous, integrated face-to-face and digital care to young people.

Have you heard of yoga? Would you like to try it in the comfort of your own home?
Yoga involves stretching and movement to help counter many hours of sitting in front of a screen. It helps release and strengthen your back, shoulders and legs. It also incorporates mindfulness to help ease stress, anxiety and worries. You always feel better after it!

Ask izzy: Connect with Services
Ask Izzy is a free and confidential website that connects people to the services they need. Some of the services Ask Izzy provides access to are: housing, domestic and family violence help, food, health services, support and counselling, money help, drug & alcohol assistance and more.

Red Cross Extreme Hardship Support Program
The Australian Red Cross has initiated a COVID support program for Victorians who are experiencing significant hardship during this time. To be eligible to receive financial relief, a person must:
live in Victoria
be unable to access Commonwealth income support
have very limited income, savings, and community support
be a temporary or provisional visa holder, or undocumented migrant

For Parents: Notice Changes in Your Young Person
There might be changes in your child’s emotions, behaviour and thinking that indicate they may need some extra help. You might notice:
feelings of fear, anxiety and sadness and/or angry bursts
withdrawal from friends, family and activities
being low in energy
difficulty going to sleep
changes in appetite
negative thoughts that won’t go away
other changes in behaviour such as being more emotional or temper tantrums in younger children.
