自带设备 (BYOD) 计划
Why do we have a 1:1 BYOD program?
Bundoora Secondary College's 1:1 BYOD program has been designed to support students on their educational journey into 21st-century learning. BSC staff believe that the regular integration of technology into learning tasks will enhance students' learning experiences and help them acquire important skills as part of a rigorous curriculum. BSC staff also work with students to develop critical skills for maintaining respectful relationships in the online and digital environment.
Expectations
It is an expectation that all students have access to their own computer at both school and home on a daily basis. Acceptable devices for use in class include laptops or tablets (2-in-1s) that meet the minimum specifications as listed here within and in our policy.
Implementation
-
BSC engages a third party to accommodate student-parents'/carers' needs, recommending a device that can be used at the school. Third-party agreements are the sole responsibility of the student/parents/caregivers. Devices that meet minimum and recommended specifications can be ordered through this third party here.
-
Families are required to purchase an electronic device (based on the minimum requirements) and any desired insurances. Please refer to the Access and Equity to the Digital Learning Program Policy.
-
The school reserves the right to prohibit students from bringing devices into certain spaces or during certain activities, e.g., science rooms, exam halls, and physical education classes.
-
All students and their families will be required to sign a BYOD Acceptable Use and Support Agreement before they can access the school internet, resources, and support from our IT services.
-
Students will learn how to use their devices for learning via the Digital Passport as well as additional subject-specific skill instruction in classes.
Guidelines
-
Students will be required to bring their electronic devices to school, fully charged, every day. Battery management is the responsibility of each student, who should ensure that sufficient battery life is available for the anticipated usage each day. Students may bring their charger to school and, with teacher permission (to accommodate safety requirements), can charge their computer in certain classrooms.
-
It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the electronic device remains ready and able to be connected to the school network at all times.
-
Students will be required to use a school-provided Microsoft Office 365 account.
-
Devices must use the Windows Defender Antivirus software that is built into Windows; third-party antivirus software should not be used, as it can impede school internet access.
-
The school may review files and communications on the electronic device to maintain system integrity, ensuring that users are using the electronic device responsibly.
Using the device at school
-
Electronic devices (laptops) are recommended to be secured in a protective case and left in the student's locker whenever they are not in the student's direct possession or being used in class, including at recess and lunch times.
-
Students are responsible for their data. Students will have access to the school's network through Office 365 to save their work. The school will not be responsible for any data loss.
Transport to and from school
When travelling to and from school, students are recommended to carry their electronic device in a protective case within their school bag, so it is not visible to any casual observer.
Minimum and recommended specifications
Recommended specifications have been put into place to ensure that students have access to a device that can support their learning throughout their secondary schooling. Students who choose devices that only meet the minimum requirements may find that they need to upgrade equipment within a year of the purchase. The minimum requirements have out in place to accommodate those students with financial needs or are using second hand equipment. Students who have devices that do not meet the minimum requirements may struggle with some class content and may not be able to meet the necessary learning outcomes. Hardware and software are changing rapidly and this should be considered when purchasing a BYOD computer.
Devices that do not meet the minimum requirements will have limited support from BSC IT. If it is possible to connect to the school internet, access will be provided to the Microsoft Office suite and online printing access.
