Access to the Wellbeing HUB during class time

At Bundoora Secondary College, we understand that some students may require additional support to manage their wellbeing throughout the school day. When access to the Wellbeing HUB during class time is considered essential, this is determined collaboratively by families, health professionals, and BSC staff. In such cases, the arrangement is formally documented in the student’s Snapshot. Snapshot is a document all staff refer to about a student's support requirements.

Students experiencing emotional distress or needing a short break from the classroom environment may use a HUB Exit Pass to access the Wellbeing HUB. This system provides a safe, calm space where students can regulate their emotions and return to learning when they feel ready. This strategy is considered a short term intervention while the student is being taught the appropriate self regulation skills to stay in the classroom

Students with HUB access are expected to:

  • Exit class and report directly to the HUB, informing a staff member upon arrival.

  • Spend up to 20 minutes in the HUB using calming strategies and self-regulation tools.

  • Return to class once they feel settled and ready to re-engage with learning.

If the HUB is temporarily unstaffed, students are directed to the Front Office, where an alternative supervised space will be arranged to ensure their safety and support needs are met.

Please note: Technology (e.g. a phone, laptop or tablet) is not to be used as a calming strategy in the HUB. The focus is on mindful, screen-free techniques that support emotional regulation and wellbeing.
